There has been a surge of clever arguments for staying inside, ostensibly as a response to a meaningless age. Would-be separatists advocate for gooning in secret and scrolling away (see: the viral Harper’s essay), while others call for a return to “seriousness” (see: Helen Andrews on workplace feminization, or Joe Weisenthal’s X rant about adults putting on Halloween costumes and partying all of October).
